Full, poured concrete with (2) separate storage areas under the living and sleeping sections of the house. All pool equipment contained under the pool. The pool itself is a foundation within the foundation. There is 100 linear feet of floor to ceiling custom built shelving in the storage areas, very clean and very dry.

1st Floor
An open, L-shaped plan provides a large living and dining room with 16' ceilings as well as the kitchen area with adjacent breakfast spot. Elegant staircase crafted of Angelique leads to loft area above the living space. There is also a sitting room/den off the entry hall, adjacent to main living area (that can readily double for overflow sleeping as there is a full bath across the hall). The living areas are connected to the sleeping wing of the house by the pool link which is initially accessed from the main entry. A gracious stair descends to the pool area with rock waterfall - functional in the pool filtration system as well as aesthetically and pleasing. The gunite lap pool has been designed to function without chemicals of any kind and systems installed to make certain that there is neither excess moisture nor odor from the pool. The pool deck is constructed of Wana and provides for a very pleasant and nearly zen like sitting area adjacent to the pool and looking through french doors to the outside. The master bedroom opens directly onto the pool deck and is exceptional in proportions with angled ceiling and circular skylight with an incredible walkout master bath that features an indoor/outdoor soaking tub. The master also has french doors accessing a private patio. The sleeping wing also includes a second bedroom and bath as well as the laundry accessed by a separate exterior entrance so handy from the beach.

Jim Wallen

Jim has lived on or visited Martha’s Vineyard beginning at the age of 3 months when my family rented a cottage in Gay Head (Aquinnah). My first memory is the arc of the the three white lights and one red light of the Gay Head light reflecting into my bedroom. My family built a vacation home in Lobsterville in 1956 where I spent most of my childhood summers. After graduating college and a few years in New York I moved to the island form my first winter in 1970. Over the next several years I worked on construction projects, became a yacht delivery captain and shuttled back and forth between this island and various Caribbean ones seasonally, followed by nearly 20 years primarily in the Caribbean sailing, boat building and house building. From 1995 to 2001 I managed an air ambulance company in Nassau, Bahamas. I moved back to Martha’s Vineyard in 2001, built a house in Aquinnah and started a new career in property management. I became an associate at Feiner Real Estate in 2009. I have been married to Kathleen Smith for 30 years and have 2 sons, Nicholas 31 and Zachary, 30.
