iht "Jim Feiner, the Owner of Feiner Real Estate, has made giving back to his community part of the core values of his company. The Feiner Real Estate Client’s Choice program supports the efforts of local island non profits, allowing their Buyers and Sellers to determine the charities of their choice. The donation of 10% of his company’s profits is incredibly generous and Island Housing Trust has been the grateful recipient of these donations since Jim developed the program. The funds we have received have helped further our mission of providing permanently affordable ownership and rental opportunities for working island families and individuals. Feiner Real Estate is a model for the community cooperation and support that helps make the Vineyard such a special place to live and work." Island Housing Trust

hospice "We are so very grateful for the inclusion of Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard as part of the Client’s Choice program at Feiner Real Estate. PRESS RELEASE

Martha’s Vineyard, MA. DECEMBER 10, 2015

Jim Feiner, principal broker of Feiner Real Estate, (WWW.MVRE.COM), donated $4,500 to the Island Housing Trust (IHT) today as part of a creative socially responsible initiative to help Martha’s Vineyard’s non-profit community. Mr. Feiner’s new program, "Client’s Choice," allows his clients to identify a not-for-profit organization each time a property is bought or sold. Feiner Real Estate will donate 10% of the profits of the sale to the organization of choice.

Mr. Feiner commented, “While Martha’s Vineyard is loved as a vacation hotspot, year-round residents are finding it increasingly difficult to live here with the high cost of living and an extremely challenging housing environment. Many of the year-round rentals are being sold off and families need help. There are over 120 non-profits on Martha’s Vineyard that serve various needs in the community and we hope we can make an impact on some of them in this coming year.

"We are beginning our 40th year on the Vineyard and this is a logical extension of my business. I have been donating 1% of my business and personal summer rental income to affordable housing for several years and I wanted to find a way to do more. This initiative could really make a difference". Mr. Feiner serves as Chairman of the Chilmark Housing Committee and also sits on the board of the Island Housing Trust (IHT) He sees the impact that IHT projects have had on the community, the economy and especially people in need. “In a perfect world, others will come on board and do the same. I think we can really get something happening and make a serious difference to the island community through the non-profits that serve them. It also gives my clients an opportunity to feel a connection with the non-profit groups on the island and the people who benefit from them.

"Client’s Choice" is a very simple program. The buyer or seller with whom we work gets to identify the Island charitable institution of their choice and the donation is made after the property closes with no expense to them. "I am hoping this idea will inspire others to look within and see what it is that they can do. Be it 1% of rentals or something else, we can all do something to help make our community a better place."
